Welcome to the website of the Embassy of Hungary in Pretoria. 

The process of establishing diplomatic relations between Hungary and the Republic of South Africa began in the early 1990s, culminating in the formal establishment of full diplomatic relations on 29 July 1992.

Our Mission remains committed to promoting and further enhancing the mutually beneficial relations with the Republic of South Africa, with particular emphasis on exploring new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of economy, science, culture, and education. In the course of our work, we strive to ensure that our Embassy, based in Pretoria, represents Hungary at a high professional standard not only in the Republic of South Africa but also in Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Eswatini, Zambia and Zimbabwe, thereby contributing to the long-term development of bilateral relations.

We consider it a priority to provide consular protection to Hungarian nationals in the receiving State and in the countries of accreditation at an appropriate professional standard. We are committed to offering reliable, prompt and effective assistance to Hungarian citizens residing in or visiting the Republic of South Africa and the wider region, whether in the form of information, administrative support or, where necessary, assistance.
