The consulate is closed on Hungarian and South-African public holidays. Should we be unavailable on other dates, we will announce it under the News section of the webpage.



Please note that appointments are required for all consular and visa matters. We cannot accept walk-in applications.


Appointments can be booked directly through our Appointment Booking System:

  • Passport case
  • Hungarian ID
  • Legalization (signature, translation, copy)
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Address registration
  • Visa (For purpose of entry and stay in Hungary)
    • Short term visas – C type
    • Long term visas – D type

Appointments via email and phone (,

We can only accommodate clients who have previously made an appointment by email or phone. Walk ins are not accepted under any circumstances.

  • Verification of Hungarian Citizenship
  • Naturalization
  • Registration (birth, marriage, divorce, death)
  • Issuance of certificate
  • Consular Service in Cape Town and in Durban

One person may book one appointment only for a consular service. If you book more appointments for the same consular service all of the appointments should be cancelled by the Consulate without prior notice.

Please make sure that you arrive in time for your appointment. In case you cannot come for your appointment you should cancel it in advance.

Please note that we use the same Appointment Booking System, therefore we cannot issue earlier appointments.

Please download and fill in all the required documents before coming to the Consulate. If you fail to prepare your application properly you might be advised to book a new appointment and come back later.

Please note that in most of the cases the Consulate only receives the applications and forward them to the competent Hungarian authority, therefore the Consulate cannot accelerate the procedures.
