If you wish to stay longer than 90 days please apply for resident permit.
We cannot accept walk-in Visa applications, not even during the office hours!
From 1 June 2013 all Schengen Visa applicants must submit their application in person. Applications sent by courier, mail, e-mail or fax will not be processed. Couriers may be arranged for the collection of passports only.
Please be informed that people over 70 years old and children below 12 years old are exempted from submitting fingerprints. However, the decision concerning their physical presence at the Embassy will be taken individually. We will collect 10 fingerprints digitally and we will store them for 59 months.
A visa is only a preliminary permission for entry, which does not authorize its bearer automatically to enter the country. Travellers may be requested to provide proof of the existence of the conditions of their entry and stay in Hungary and, if they are not able to fulfill this, he may be returned from the border.
Applications shall be lodged no more than six months before the start of the intended visit.
Please note that the decision about the admissible applications as main rule must be made within 15 calendar days counted from the submission (processing time: 15 working days). Therefore it is advised to submit the application at least 6 weeks before the departure date.
The consulate does not take any responsibility for delayed submission and for therefore failed travels. That period may be extended up to a maximum of 30 calendar days, and exceptionally maximum of 60 calendar days in special cases.
There is no guarantee the visa will be issued.
If you fail to meet one of the requirements, the application will be deemed inadmissible or visa will be refused. We may request additional documents a personal interview at any time during the processing of the application.
During peak season (European summer), please ensure that you book your appointment early. We are usually booked 2-3 months in advance.
